Classroom Organization for Online Business Owners

So how Do you use organizational hacks to make your life as a work from home CEO more efficient? The end all question, isn't it? All we want as entrepreneurs is to make each task a little easier and less tedious. And we can see Pin after Pin, Reel after Reel, and TikTok after TikTok showing different strategies; but most are overwhelming or you don’t know how it works in your space. At least that’s how it feels for me.

In this article, you will find 5 easy organization tools to simplify your routine. This can help with time management for online business owners specifically, as well as overall organization for any teacherpreneurs that might still be in the classroom.

Organization Supplies

  1. Seville classics 10 drawer organizer: We’ve all seen these rolling carts; but how to use them functionally to add efficiency to your office? Not so much.
    • Organization hacks are all about creating systems that help you seamlessly move from one thing to the next. These drawers are multifaceted in they do exactly that with minimal set up and take down.
    • Use the labels listed below to help create this system. Label each drawer by routine task or even by content pillar. Then, whenever you have something new for that task, you can move things directly into the appropriate bin. I may not have a lot of printed content, but my little workhorse of a drawer organizer holds all my receipts, all my printed products for product photography, my recording equipment, product photography decor, and even tutoring content at the bottom. I keep everything I need for work all in one space.
      • And for teachers, use these as turn in bins for your students. Their work goes directly from their hands, to that bin, to your desk for grading, and back to the same bin. There is no “you must have lost my paper” excuse or wondering where you put those papers. Once all of the papers for one assignment are in the bin, I immediately paper clip/binder clip them together, so that the bin is ready for another assignment (aka in case I am behind on some grading or multiple assignments are being submitted back to back). The other hack to use this great organizer for, is to use the extra drawers for markers, colored pencils, rulers, etc. They are easy to keep an eye on and easy to place out at the beginning of the class for student use. This system also helps manage things being put back a tad better.
  2. Removable labels: The wonder tool! Removable labels can be used for just about everything in the classroom or in the home office.
    • In my office, I like to know that everything has a place and that makes it more likely for me to find exactly what I need, when I need it. I save valuable time knowing exactly where things are and use less brain capacity trying to remember what was in each and every drawer.
    • Add these to the drawers listed above as well as to anything that is a consistent supply (especially if this is something that students have access to). By adding labels to my markers, colored pencils, crayons, and highlighter bins, students were more likely to put things back in the appropriate box. I am not saying that it happened every time, because teenagers, but I definitely saw things more often back in their respective places after adding the labels.
  3. Airtable: Airtable is my digital workhorse. My business runs through 3 spaces: Airtable, Google Drive, and Canva. And Airtable is the first place I check to grab whatever I need.
    • If you like a linear and Excel looking feel to your organization system, then Airtable is the place to hold all your info for your business. You can set up automations, keep all your links, and even upload documents so you don't have to go searching your different desktops and Drive for what you need. This digital organization space really allows me to work from wherever, even my phone, and is used for social media planning, launch planning, and even mundane tasks like having all my links in one place or my swipe file ready to use.
    • I highly recommend checking it out; but if that feels too overwhelming, just reach out to me and we can work through how to set it up to meet your individual needs together.
  4. Post It tabletop easel pad with dry erase: These are great for organizing group work quickly, collaborating with a group, and even brainstorming your next big idea or launch.
    • I love a good dry erase because my ideas are so fluid. I love using this to brainstorm my ideas or plan out when I want to work on what. They fold up and store nicely, plus I can use the sticky from the other side to post things to my wall and keep me focused.
    • From my teacher days, I have used these for group competition, 4 corners games, group essay outlining, stations, and as an additional board for instructions that I need at a different place in the room. I set it up in the morning and it stays in that spot all day. Though simple, these tabletop dry erase boards are super helpful to organize where students need to go and keep them there.
    • You also have the option of the Post it easel pad, which is a bit cheaper, that does not have the dry erase portion. I have also used these in the classroom for easy gallery walks or competitions.
  5. Panda Planner: This planner is the godsend for balancing classroom life and personal life.
    • It helps me prioritize what I need to get done in a day, but also forces me to take a moment to reflect on the gratitude of the day. I like that it allows me to chunk the projects that are most important in that day/week/month, so that I am not overwhelmed.
    • Now I understand that this is more of a bonus organizational hack, just for you. This is more to help you organize your life, business, and keep things in order both in and outside of any school work. I do this when I wake up to set myself up for the day.
