About Me
Hello Everyone!
My name is Jewels and I run Jewels of Teaching. I started this website after dealing with a grueling few years teaching 9th grade gifted/honors English Language Arts and Freshman Composition as a University Adjunct. The workload was overwhelming. Gifted students wrote more than I was used to teaching 10th-12th grade Standard/Honors classes and on top of that, my freshman composition students were writing 4-5 page papers every month, with a final paper that was 10-12 pages in length. I thought I was going to drown.
Instead, like all us teachers do, I picked myself up and applied my resources to adapt and persevere. I used my MA in Writing and Rhetoric, my thesis topic on peer feedback and how it affected the writing process, and any resource I could find online to try and streamline my work. Now, I take that information and share it with you so that when you are facing 200 papers of varying lengths all at one time, you will have some tips and strategies in your back pocket to help you through this impossible job we call teaching.
