The Transformative Power Of Travel For Entrepreneur Teachers

Travel – it's more than just ticking boxes off a bucket list or getting a great social media shot.
For entrepreneur teachers, travel is also about growth, self-care, reconnecting to our values, and providing a fresh perspective on our businesses. Let's explore how a trip can become a pathway to self-discovery and take our teacher businesses to greater heights.
Using my recent adventure across Italy as an example, I'll share how transformative travel breathed new inspiration into my life and business. I'll also recommend twelve must-have travel accessories to make your travels smoother and more productive.
Travel as Powerful Business Retreats for Teacherpreneurs
Solo retreats offer several benefits for entrepreneurs. They provide a chance to pause, reflect, plan, and serve as a creative and strategic thinking playground. We can leverage travel as our own retreats, weaving in elements of self-care, rest, reflection, and creative output.
I'm so grateful for my trip to Italy. During the journey, I developed a work-life balance series filled with actionable tips to help fellow entrepreneurs. I documented my travel experiences on IG and offered guidance on planning similar trips.
I envisioned the life I wanted and how my business could mirror my aspirations. Immersed in Italy's vibrancy, I returned brimming with fresh ideas, increased confidence, and a renewed drive to move my business forward. I watched my business run in my absence, which further fuelled my motivation to help my clients accomplish this, too.
My trip also underscored the role of rest and rejuvenation. It reinforced the importance of knowing when to pause, recuperate, and prioritize well-being. And it reminded me that these things can be an integral part of our lives - no matter where we are in the world!
Exploring the stunning landscapes of places like Rome, Lucca, Cinque Terre, and other breathtaking locales inspired me. It expanded my perspective on life and business in a way I couldn't have anticipated.
12 Travel Must-Haves for the Entrepreneur Teacher
It's essential to have travel gear that makes work, rest, and adventuring easy. Here are the twelve travel items I recommend for teacherpreneurs on a solo retreat.
I found the Travelon backpack to be a reliable travel companion. Despite some minor fraying, it remained durable and secure throughout my two-week trip. It has a spacious interior, a discreet design resembling a purse, and an interior light, though it could use more pockets for organization.
I received this crossbody as a gift from my friend who traveled with me. This one had no wear and tear after the trip, was super secure, nice, and light, and kept all my essentials close. I'd use this to go into the city quickly or when I felt like taking only part of the backpack. The straps are sturdy, and there is enough room inside for more than you would think. I kept my large Samsung S22 Ultra phone, the full wallet (see below), tissues, medicine, chapstick, mints, gum, hand sanitizer, loop earplugs, and a few other miscellaneous items. It was discrete, and I appreciated how helpful it was to get things out quickly when I needed something.
This charger was a lifesaver. We were out and about traveling or visiting different cities from dawn til dusk many days, so having a thin power bank with you to charge up (especially with all of my video footage) was super helpful. I liked that it didn't take up much space and was reliable to give me an extra charge when I needed it.
The light on this is the thing for me. It has a variety of settings, can stand up on its own, holds my phone snuggly, and lights up my face even in the dark without making me squint. This is my favorite travel purchase that allowed me to take some great shots, and I'll continue using it in my marketing footage and Instagram Lives.
Multi-purpose Rfid Blocking Passport Travel Wallet
I invested in this beauty to keep my passport, Global ID, Covid Card, and everything else safe. It's sleek, slim, and fits my vibe. I loved that it could hold all of my essentials in one place to keep them handy but secure. Even though I accessed the wallet a lot, there was no wear and tear after the trip, and I'm still using it after the trip.
Bagsmart Toiletry Bag Travel Bag
This is probably my favorite purchase! I love how roomy it is. It fit EVERYTHING I needed but still didn't take up space somehow. Everything was organized and looked pretty, too (always a plus). I appreciated that I didn't have to take everything out to get to one thing, and I didn't have to take up a whole counter with my items. I just hung it over a door or laid it on the bed to grab what I needed. If you're hanging it up and taking things out, you'll have to push the bottom up to rezip it (gravity pulls the entire bag down a little whenever a zipper is opened).
These were super helpful in preserving space. Plus, I could put it in my carry-on just in case anything got lost during travel (which, luckily, it didn't).
Those international red eyes are a beast. But this pillow helped me relax a bit more as I tried to sleep next to a crying baby. I like that it has slightly higher slides to support my side sleeping habit. I'm not accustomed to sleeping upright, so I still had some trouble, but I can't blame the travel pillow. I also loved that I could fold it right up and attach it to the outside of my backpack via a small carabiner.
This fan was so compact and adorable. It has good airflow, two speeds, and you can adjust the angle. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to stand by itself, but I needed compact and good airflow, both of which it achieved with flying colors.
These cute bottles fit right into my toiletry bag and stayed solid for the whole trip. They fit a good amount of liquid inside and were easy to dispense. I encountered no leakage the entire trip, and I still have some left that I've been using up afterward.
I used these every day to remind me to remain present and grateful for why I was traveling in the first place. They're double-sided, so you don't need to take the entire box with you. They're helpful whenever you need a positive mindset boost.
I loved that this had multiple ports. I could easily charge my phone, Kindle, and portable charger - plus, it only took up a little room in my bag.
